Zenshin Sushi @ Bugis

Update~

This restaurant has already closed down.

TGIF!We came across this sushi restaurant at bugis. Its located among the few shop houses when you walk to the Buddhist temple from MRT station. If you frequent there, its along the stretch of shop houses that has This Fashion, Taka, SINMA, gifts and stationary shop, and i think its besides the 3 for $10 shop, if my memory does not fail me:)

There it is the restaurant name. Missed out the logo though..

We thought since we haven't try anything from here, so we decided to give a try... It was just after a corporate party, floor was dirty and etc. But their service staff was courteous and boss seems attentive. He noticed that we are ready to order and asked one of the waitress to take our orders.

We order some sushi, ramen & katsu don.

Maguro, Salmon & Advocado sushi

The maguro sushi was fresh. Not exactly very fresh, but we went to the restaurant at 9.20pm +, for this timing, its considered fresh. The salmon sushi doesnt look fresh. But it was average though. Not as stale as i thought it to be. As for the Avocado sushi, this is the first time that I can actually taste the avocado because usually those avocados found in california handrolls tasted mild or even tasteless. As seen from the picture, the avocado are thinly-sliced and in large portion. The avocado is fresh and a little crisp too! Coupled with the rice which is nicely seasoned with vinegar and wrapped with a thin strip of seaweed, the avocado sushi is recommended for people who like avocado.
Most of their sushi are expensive. Though there are some sushi that belong to the $1.99 range, but the range is very limited. Btw, these 3 sushi that i ordered belong to the $1.99 range :)

Katsu Don set

Katsu Don - look at the scrambled egg :)

The katsu don is $10.90. The serving was just nice, with plenty of egg, carrot strips and onions. The serving of the pork cutlet is average though, as there are other Japanese restaurants that serve the whole pork cutlet rather than a portion of it. Taste wise, the katsu don was quite fragrant and the sauce is ample such that the rice isn't dry to eat. The main disappointment that I had with this dish is they didn't use real Japanese rice (or at least I can't find any in the bowl). If you are a great fan of real Japanese rice, I do not recommend this katsu don, otherwise it is worth a try although the price is a little on the high side (no Japanese rice, remember?).

My Kimuchi ramen- Kinda little hor. This pic. was taken

before i eat the ramen.

Close up view of the ingredients in the ramen & soup base

The Char Siew in my ramen

They have 4 different type of ramen. One of them is miso ramen, sapporo ramen, kimuchi ramen etc. Anw, they are filled with same ingredients except that their soup base is diff. I order the Kimuchi ramen. It tastes like Kimchi soup base. It's sweet with a hinge of sour taste. I don't like this kind of soup base. FYI, i dont really like sweet stuff. So if you like sweet base or like kimchi, you might want to try it. It seems more like Korean noodles to me than Japanese noodles, due to the Kimchi taste. Their ingredients for the ramen is little and the ramen seems like maggie mee.. Opps.
